UNDERSTANDING PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY

Dr. Martha and Dr. Parisa are pediatric dentists, specializing in the treatment and prevention of dental disease, as well as the overall oral health of children. Through extra years of schooling, training, experience, and certification, a pediatric dentist is uniquely qualified to treat the dental needs of infants, children, and adolescents.

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education.

We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their “cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.

What is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist?

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.

Establishing your child's Dental Home

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including...

Comprehensive oral health care including acute

     care and preventive services.

Individualized preventive dental health program

     based upon a caries-risk assessment.

Anticipatory guidance regarding growth

     and development.

Plan for acute dental trauma (emergencies).

Dietary counseling.

Referrals to dental specialists when care cannot

directly be provided within the dental home.

Referral at an age determined by patient, parent,

     and pediatric dentist.

Our Peek at our services

Preventative Oral Hygiene Instruction

This includes proper brushing, flossing, and eating habits, the use of pit and fissure sealants, and Silver Diamine Fluoride. We strive to provide a fun, educational environment where children learn the importance of good dental hygiene. We use only latex free and mercury free products.

Digital X-Ray

Our use of digital x-ray technology reduces your child’s radiation exposure by up to 90% and completely eliminates the use of chemicals. It’s better for children and the environment.

Restorative Dentistry

This includes children’s fillings and crowns, including treatment of the often devastating nursing bottle decay. Our doctors are committed to discussing all options before these procedures and answering all questions you may have.

Emergency Treatment

While our goal is to prevent dental emergencies, we understand that the need for urgent dental care is sometimes necessary and can be a stressful experience for both parents and children. We strive to handle dental emergencies promptly and with compassion.

LOVED BY KIDS. TRUSTED BY PARENTS.

Read what our patients and their parents say about us...

I think I was more nervous than my daughter about having two baby teeth extracted. It was over so fast and the staff at Bluebird was amazing! She did so well and I would recommend them for any pediatric dentistry needs again and again and again!  HR, Google

My 4 year old daughter loves this office! They explain everything in a way she can understand and helps her to feel very comfortable. She’s had a tooth pulled and baby root canal at this office where they had to put her under anesthesia and she still loves to visit her dentist! Grateful for such a great group of people to grow with!  MM, Google

Dr P and her hygienist made my 2 year old feel comfortable and we’re so patient with her. She was scared and they did everything possible to make her trust them! 100% recommend!  MK, Google
